The newsletter of GBRW Expert Witness
The theme of this quarter’s newsletter is giving testimony - in various jurisdictions and through diverse channels. Two of our expert associates share their experiences:
- Roger Emmott is Managing Director of Roger Emmott Associates Limited and Practice Head of SteelExpertWitness. He has been involved in expert work in the metals and mining sector for over 10 years, has been cross-examined on five occasions at in-person tribunals and remote hearings, and has also attended a further seven remote hearings on other matters. Roger describes, compares and contrasts his experiences.
- Richard Palette has worked on more than 70 cases involving account transactions, cheque and payment fraud over the past 14 years. Towards the end of 2019 he was approached as a potential expert witness by US lawyers acting on behalf of a liquidator of a Ponzi scheme and investors who were victims. The class action, in which the amounts involved were said to be second only to the Madoff fraud, settled in February this year and Richard shares his experiences over a period of more than three years.
On a more sombre note, we were saddened at the end of March to announce the death of our colleague David Ellis from a sudden heart attack. David joined GBRW Expert Witness seven years ago, after an expert career which included FTI Consulting, Navigant Consulting and NERA Economic Consulting. We will greatly miss his professionalism and sense of humour and David’s obituary can be found here.
